Just saw this at the Wal-Mart website. With any luck it will be coming to local stores before too long. This is one of the first -R capable multi-format DVD burners. It's been out for about a year or so, but its price is just now coming into spec with the straight burners. Supports all media sanctioned by the DVD Forum (sorry, +R wasn't in that list)--2X DVD-R, DVD-RAM, 12X8X32 CD-RW burner, and 10X DVD-Reader. And to top it off, it's comletely CloneCD friendly! RAW-DAO-96 supported and even writes correct EFM's!
Looks like an awesome drive for the price. Any one tried it out yet?

well, so far this burner (LG gma-4020b) is doing a good job.
Did a quick burn of DVD movie Die Another Day using DVDdecrypter, DVD2One, and Nero (v5.5.10.335) onto an cheap optodisc DVD-RW. Played on my home dvd player AND PS2 flawlessly thru the whole disk. . Haven't had a chance to try too many ps2 dvd games yet. I'm looking for large games that fill up almost the whole DVD, to test out various media. Burned Wakeboard Unleashed onto a cheap optodisk DVD-R (rated 1x but nero allow burn at 2x). Burned DVD booted up and played flawlessly on my PS2. I will try burning it on the DVD-RW.
DVD-ram driver was a bit finicky getting properly installed on my winxp machine. Nice feature, but slow at 1x.
CD-RW burn in 1hr or less @1x. 2x CD-R was done in 30-35min. Not the world's fastest dvd-burner, but does it job... Also does a good job ripping DVD-roms. I've got a sample pack of various bargain CD-R/ CD-RW's I'll test. Most of all, i want to try theRitekG03 CD-R 1x and see if the LG burner will let me burn it at 2x without any hack/mod.
