Hey, I found a store thats selling the Pioneer 106D 4X DVD-/+RW for 170$ CND, so in USD that'd be about....130$.

Is it good for PS2 games and DVD movies? Also, I was just wondering if it's good as an overall burner (dvd/cdr), because I'd also like to backup all my mp3's and stuff on it.

    Hope someone can help! hehe

    Thanks!

I have a question for you Pioneer 106 owners. Can this drive write at 1x ? I have some 1x media and don't want to throw them out. I have used a Pioneer 104 for more than 2 years and it is a good drive, but I wanted to upgrade. I bought a Lite-On 451 dual drive, but phew, it's worse than my old Pioneer and I am fed up with it. It can't write at 1x, so all 1x media are written at 2x, which ends in a coaster at most of the times. 2x rated media are written at 4x, which looks ok for the first time, but when I carefully test the disk, it's worse than I have ever expected... Even with Sony 2x media. My Xbox doesn't really like this, he he... So it's time to get a new drive, which will probably be a Pioneer, but I don't want to be dissapointed once again.

    regards, Stephen

Ah, so thats the difference between A06 and 106.

uns97: can't help ya, hehe i dont have one till next monday

Just a last question for you guys though, the store was also selling the Asus 106D... the guy told me it's just asus brand name, but the same drive... and it was 50$ cheaper.

I ended up purchasing the Pioneer 106D, but there is still time if I want to change it (they are getting more in stock next monday).

Should I stick with the Pioneer version? or change to the Asus model?

    Thanks!
