help with xp aspi install –
02-07-2003,05:51 AM
im trying to update the aspi layer in my xp system to version4.71.2, i follow the instructions that adaptec gives but it will not install here are their instructions
Installation Instruction:
This file extracts by default to the c:\adaptec\ directory. If you have changed this directory, please note the directory you have chosen. For Windows 98, NT 4.0, Me and 2000, use the enclosed ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer. For Windows XP, select Start - Run from the menu, and then the Browse button. Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory the files extracted to and select the OPEN button. In the command box, add a space and either XP32 for Pentium I/II/III/IV processors or XP64 for Itanium processors. The command should look like: c:\adaptec\aspi\install XP32 or c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer
now everything works good untill i execute the batch file in which i get the following screen (below).i cannot type in the correct command line in the given instructions because whenever i do the dos windowed box just disapears.what am i doing wrong?
"INSTALL.BAT <Operating System Type>"
"--------------------------------------"
"X86 - Microsoft Windows 98/ME/NT/2000"
"XP32 - Microsoft Windows XP X86"
"XP64 - Microsoft Windows XP Itanium"
Press any key to continue . . .

LOL.. go to command prompt from the START button in your lower left hand; then, go to browse, and find that bat file. Now pick it, then just type in xp32; hit return. The reason why its closing is becuz u are trying to run it when u DOUBLE click on the bat file itself..it doesnt work that way.

I've also tried to install those drivers in Xp. Using aspichk still it shows that they haven't been installed correctly. It updates two of the drivers, but leaves the remaing two with the original version

use an older version or forceaspi and then update.
