    i purchased a speedzter 5 external drive the problem is, the laptop that i use recogized the new hardware and said it was running properly. but i do do see the program for the dvd burner on my desktop. or under my programs. what am i doing wrong? why cant i copy a dvd no menu for me to use. help.

    errr...did you install any DVD burning software? Hard to follow this post "do do see the program for the dvd burner on my desktop. or under my programs." Did you mean you DON'T see a program anywhere? If so, you might need to install one first.

    no i didnt install one i thought if i hook the burner up it would have its own software no it seems i have to go and buy one. is all dvd burners like that?

    u need software mate
    did anything come with the burner ? if not install alcohol 120% or nero or primodvd etc.

    i never thought they would package a product without software. i spent 250.00 on this burner and it came with a floppy disk for a mac pc. thanks for the help.

    yep well, the software is created by other people than the drive manufacturers
    usually you get a demo version or a cut down version tho. but youre better off getting the better software anyway
