    i tried backing up 3 of my games. Gladius, disgaea, and dragon quest 8. the only one that worked was gladius. My orginals work fine, and the iso and burned disks all work fine on an emulator. Gladius has long load speeds, i figured because i burned it on max speed. i tryed burning both disgaea and dragon quest 8 at multiple speeds. dragon quest will give a black screen after a few colors and disgaea gets to the NOW LOADING screen and then doesent work.

    Im using dvd+r with convert to dvd-rom mode.

    that link I gave you earlier has this at the bottom near the attachments.

    Short tutorial for games:

    1. Put your original game in drive and make image of it.
    2. Patch it.
    3. Burn it.
    4. Put it in your PS2 and launch ESR (direct DVD version).
    5. That's it!

    the direct dvd version just stops at a black screen, i got it to start with disgaea but then it froze at loading screen again.

    It's either the game(s) are incompatible with esr, or you've botched something else.

    Disgaea is a 'Nippon Ichi' SRPG, all of which work perfectly with ESR. The only problem with some of them is that they need to be converted from CD to DVD format. For example, the PAL release of Disgaea is on a CD (not sure about the US release).

    @DeviantGamer:
    My guess is that you have bad burns and media possibly not suitable for your console. I always get good results using high quality DVD-R discs of the type "MCC03RG20" sold under the brand name of "Verbatim AZO 16x DVD-R" (though they're manufactured by Mitsubishi).

    As for burning speed, you should either use a specific speed recommended by the disc manufacturer, or if that is unknown simply go for half the max speed. Using either the maximum or the minimum speed available is likely to cause problems.

    Best regards: dlanor
