Having problems Dvd to Dvd rip.

I want to back up my Dvd based games to dvd used Clone dvd I get errors i used Nero no playback disc error. The Game is GTA 3 and both of those mentioned softwares are up to date. The only help I need and would greatly appreciate is what software should I use or should I just rip my dvd based games to cd which I haven't tried yet. The game was Grand theft 3 MY media is Dvd-r I burned at 1x I used Nero to burn it and I have ver7 console and I have a Lite-on 811 Dvd-burner . I have had success with cd to cd backup's of my games. Well I would appreciate any help. Thank you
