    Hey guys,
I just tried to burn GTA: San andreas and it will work fine all the way until it's about to start the game after the begining loading screen. I burned it onto a Verbatum DVD+R. And im using The solder free mod-chip with the Swap Magic discs. Do u think the game would work if i burned it onto a DVD-R? Also, it does the same thing for THUG 2 which is also burned on a verbatum DVD+R, Do u think its my discs? Like when its trying to load the game, i can hear the laser inside the PS2 trying to read the disc, but it cant , so it just keeps trying and trying and after a couple minutes it might work. Please help me! thanks

verbatim are one of the best DVD+R available so i dont think its that. what speed did you burn it on? i think its probably the speed is too fast so it gets errors writing.

Im my experience the burning speed doesnt matter as long as your HD is defragged and your burning onto quality DVDr.

I have found that DVD-R (with G04 dye) never fail, skip or have any play back issues.

    This is with a A05 burner at x4 and a 30003 ps2.

DVD+R are a different story.... some work , most dont. -R all the way for me.
    PS2 - Pal 30003 - Fliptop - 250gb Maxtor
PC - Vapochill XE (-22 Deg C) with some other stuff
    GBASP with 1g F2A Ultra
    DS with nothing yet
and a GameCube (ask the wife why!)

i burn my games on the slowest possible speed, to make sure there are no errors. Spacemonkey, how do i know if the DVD-R's have G04 dye in them? Does it say it on the pack or something?

Verbatim does not make their own media. They buy it from other factories (not always the same one) and rebrand it.

Therefore, the quality of Verbatim is sometime good/sometimes not depending on the factory they bought it from.

    Lots more information at

did ya try to run the game with dvdloader/cdloader??...I don't think the game need that to work but it might help...usually if the game boot but go blank after the loading screen...it's a protection....but I dunno if this apply to GTA:SA because you're the first one to report this problems...others have success in backing and play it....It could very well be your media too....

I recently made backup copies of both GTA:SA and Thug 2 using Ritek DVD-R without a single problem. So far, the only trouble I have experienced is with the Guy Game. Only because it's 7.9 Gigs!

i guess u should burn it wit the SLOWEST speed and check vertify wit dvd decrypter heh
if that still doesn't load well.. then it's def. ur laser!! u should clean it or just replace the whole thing heh ^_^

i tihnk it's just a rumor that burn'n slower speeds is good for the laser? lol i burn at highest speeds (4x) and i had no probs yet!! (movies and ps2 games )
