my story... –
Hi, my names Peter, and I'm new to this forum. I consider myself a 'power user' on the computer, but have no idea how to do programming or (dis)assembly. I have a v12 slim pstwo, with a ice revolution modchip, and some sort of diode/laserfuse fix to help with the dying ps2 problem. (unsure what method was used exaculy as i bourght the ps2 off hi-voltage.org)
Firstly, i would like to thank toolboy/bobsbigboy, and anybody else involved for their progress so far! GT4 is proving to be one of the toughest games to crack, or even backup. Keep up the good work guys! I'm sure youll get there soon
I used toolboys "real dvd9" kit that was released a couple days ago on a pal (australian) edtion of gt4. i followed the guide step by step, and burnt it to a ritek DL disc using dvd decrypter (no layer break specified, assumed it was part of the iso). When i tried to boot it, it gets past the playstation2 screen, but compared to the original, is slow in loading the copyright screen. After that, it just freezes on a black screen.
Some observatons i have made are:
- the analogue light is on the controller, showing that the disc has booted to some extent.
- considerable laser noise - could be from trying to switch layers.
- disc swapping between the original and the backup does not work at all! (ie: booting off the original and swapping with the dvdr at the menu, or any other place in the game - doing so just freezes gt4) Although, booting with the dvdr, getting up to the black screen, and then swapping with the original works :S
- when modifying the ISO there is close to 200 references to the three bytes you are meant to change...dont know if this is what causes the freezing throught the game or not.
I know i probably can't do much to help, but i am willing to try new things out, and post any more information i find around the net to help. Keep it up guys!
anyone get this to work on a duo 2 se?
Nope, read toolboy's last post. He is still hard at work on this.
i have a matrix infinity v1.4 modchip on my old 30002 version ps2
whats the chances of getting gt4 working on it if i burnt it on a ritek DL dvdr?
All you need to do is update your Bios. There was an updated bios for your chip that was released a couple of days ago that will allow it to support D/L DVD+R. As for reading D/L Ritek DVD+R, that really depends. It certainly isn't the best media to be using for D/L applications.
I have v12 with modbo 1.1 with the latest firmware 1.4 burn to D/L DVD+R Ritek and it works perfect
i have v1 PAL ps2 with a old neo 2.2 chip ,basically using memory card exploit to boot dvd-r's via using chip to eject disk and swap with original dvd i suppose i would have to get a big DL TOC disk to get this to work if i do would i be able to play it using above method
thanx for the reply Fired
where can i get this update and how do i update the bios? new to all this
and whats the best Dual Layer media?
Verbatim (Mitsubishi Chemicals) definitely stands out from the rest as far as D/L media is concerned. As for finding the bios you are on your own. A search engine might help.
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks like the D/L DVD-R discs are going to be OTP as well. I was hoping that they might have a different write strategy which would be a little easier to work with. Here is the latest reviews of the testing on D/L DVD-R
