I'm kinda new in this topics, I've been using OPL to lauch some games in my PS2 Slim SCHP 75010 and most of them have worked terrific, except for guitar hero none of them run like they should be, but i've noticed in many list running on the web that both god of war 1 and 2 work with OPL but I tried to run them and none of them work, I load the game and all that, but as soon as I load my save to play the game gets estuck on the loading screen and never loads, so my question is if I need anny kind of patch or something to fix that, I use USBExtreme to instal the game and the discs are orginals.

P.S. I use the network adapter to run games since I don't have any HD to load games

Here's your problem. Try using WinHiip instead.

and first make an ISO of your game using IMGBURN then use WinHIIP1.7.6 to install the games .

I see a slight probelm with both helping posts. He's running a slim ps2. A SCPH-750xx series to be exact.

His options with OPL are either USB or SMB. Either way he's going to need the same tools to install to either.

    IMGBurn
    USBUtil 2.0

He'll first rip a FULL ISO image from the original disc, then use USBUtil to navigate the target location to either his USB HDD, or will install to a folder on his hard drive so that he can copy the installed game(s) to the net share.

I agree with bootlegninja, as that is the way i did my GOW2 and it works fine for me from network (SMB) and USB with OPL.
    PS2 Consoles:
    SCPH-30001 [V4] - unmodded (2)
    SCPH-30001-R [V5] DMS4 Pro SE
    SCPH-50001-N [V9] CC 2.0 SLE
    SCPH-79001 [V16] Silver - unmodded

    Until a certain movie.

Both GoWs hang on several movies At least when playing via USB.
Also, they will hang if those movies are played not ingame, but from the menu.

And the movies can't be skipped ingame.

What loader are you using, and from where are you loading your games from (A USB device, or via a SMB setup)?

If it's from a USB device, you could try PS2ESDL since it does give better performance for some games and might allow GOW to play it's videos without freezing: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/pla...hlight=PS2ESDL

For OPL (For the usage of USB devices only) and PS2ESDL, your games must be totally defragmented.
Please use a good disk defragmentation utility like the Auslogics Disk Defragmenter, and ensure that no fragmented areas (Usually represented by red squares) remain on the disk after defragmentation.
Don't use the Windows Disk Defragmentor nor Power Defragmenter, as both can leave fragmented areas behind.

But if the same video freezes then I don't think that much can be done to help loaders that use USB disks to run this game properly (Since this issue seems to be related to slow data transfer rates).

i was using OPL but it didn't work with god of war 1 or 2 (it freezes at videos)...

now i installed PS2ESDL and god of war 2 works fine (i was only pressing start and nothing else).
but god of war 1 is still freezing at one video. i was trying several options (square + L1 + START etc...) but it doesn't work.
    Can you suggest anything?

Did you try using a 32-sector cache (Holding R1 instead of L1 when launching your game)? Are you using a USB HDD? USB Flash disks should not be used as they are slower than most USB HDDs.

You need to hold the triggers/buttons until shortly after the "Loading" message appears.

You could also try invoking the "Unhook Syscalls" mode by holding TRIANGLE... but I don't think that that will help (But who knows... ).

"Force Synchronization" mode (SQUARE) should be used only on games that freeze/lockup due to slow data transfer rates as that mode is known to make performance worse in most cases. But I don't remember that it works on GOW.
