Generating own DVD disc
I recently bought a PS2 V7 instead my old jap V1, and now would like to combine my Ricoh +RW burners possibilities with the new PS2.
It reads rewritable DVDs real fine - and it would be nice to stop wasting CD-Rs and pollute my house, but my problem is that I didn't really came across with a HOWTO on the net about generating own DVD projects.
Finally I managed to make PS2 spec UDF format using Sony's CDVDgen and iml2iso first version. (The second supposed to work better on DVD images but misteriously it produces something out of spec).
It works but I when I burn a CD size rip to a DVD it is shows the logo and die. No read or seek errors can be heared - it just f*cks up and thats it.
As far as I understood from different guides CD size is generated by resampling, relinking file locations etc. > thus when I simply copy paste the files I loose TOC info resulting in freeze.
Does anyone knows if its the explanation?
Did anyone try to compile their own DVD discs?
(can be useful to have 5-6 divx or real many mp3 on 1 dvd)
In order to creat your own BOOTABLE DVDr your gonna need Sony's Offical DVDr Generator (version 1.50 works with Pioneer 103 & 104) unless someone can create a Homebrew version.
this can be :
*- a bad image :you must use an iml2iso that supports big image files
*- some checks :when you want to make a game that was on cd to a dvd ,you must change checks
cd/dvdgen 1.20 work great with dvd images
I still can find vers. 1.50, that works with my pioneer a04...where can I find it?
thanks for the help
anyone has an idea where to look for cdvd gen 1.5?
same problem....help us!
here is the methode to make a bootable dvd game image(you still need a modchip or a way to boot your image)
it was posted by someone ,don't remember his name...all credits go to him:
Maybe this is in use already?
This post is for creating an ISO DVD image from a PS2 game that is already backed up/stored on hard disk as ordinary files.
You can then burn this ISO DVD image to DVD-r using Prassi/Nero
CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.20
Isobuster to create Filelist.txt from Original DVD
A.F.7 Merge your files / Or similiar file merger
Operating System that can handle large files ie. Windows 2000
Using CD_DVD-ROM Generator 1.20:
Create a New DVD-Rom Master Project.
Type disk info into volume section ie. Disk Name etc...
Drag and drop files stored on the Hard Disk using the same layout as the filelist.txt
Remember to right click files on location section to offset them if needed.
When done click on "Rec" and save iml file
It'll say "The recording Unit is not connected" and "Initialization failed" Click OK to both.
A new window will open up - CD_DVD-ROM Recording Unit Controller
Click on File, Export Image and input a name and save
The files that are exported are iso img files (max 0.99GB in size) ie. name.000, name.001, name.002, etc
I use a handy application called "A.F.7 Merge your files v1.3" to merge all these files together
to create a single ISO DVD image file. Remember to start with name.000 at the top of this merge list and so on..
You'll be left with a large image file (upto 4.37GB). Rename to .IMG if necessary and burn with Prassi.
Thks to the above for some great apps.
i tested this myself and i made a lot of dvd games that was originally on cd(don't remember to find checks ,if not it will not boot)
hope this helps
