Hi I have the same problem, i backed up my game using alcohol 120% before i trade the original game, i used ESR to patch the ISO, the game starts sometimes and sometimes don't, sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to start, and i'm using Free MC Boot and ESR on my MC, i would appreciate your help

instead of alcohol 120% use IMGBURN or DVD Decrypter .
and which brand of dvd you are using ?

i'm using maxell dvd-R, 16x as max recording speed, 4 gb of storage, should i try burning at a lower speed?

Burn at the mid speed of your burner, that might help. So if 16x is the Max. speed, burn at 8x.
Also ensure your discs are free of any fingerprints from handleing, wipe them from the center outwards across the surface, never in a circular motion.

It seems the discs are burned ok and the console is attempting to read them, but intermittenly. The fact the console played the disc at all would suggest its working ok.
I'd guess it to be a lens issue and possibly not the discs. Maybe cleaning the pS2's lens might help.
