My backup of FF12 always crashes at the same point. The screen goes black after entering the area, but the music stays playing. The game works fine up until that point. I hear some scratching noises coming from the PS2 (v14, CC1.2lite). The disc is a Prism DVD-R, and has no scratches - I've made backups with the same media and burner and haven't had any problems.

Any ideas? Could it have been a bad image?

Sadly I deleted the image after I tested the backup for a few minutes.

I'm pretty sure the media is ok, thanks anyway.

Try making another ISO via DVD Decrypter by ripping your disc, then burn it again at a slower speed. I use 4x most of the time.

It is possible that there was a bad spot in the burn that you might not see. Try what BoF says and see if you get a disk read error while you try to copy it.

For some reason when I use my DVD burner (samsung internal drive in a usb enclosure) it doesn't allow me to change the speed. It's greyed out at 8x.

I'm using Nero OEM that came with the driver.

I'll try ripping and reburning, though. Thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, Andrew Joy. I have an internal DVD burner, it's in an external drive enclosure. I've never had any problems with it (regular DVDs and CDs, or PS2 games) besides FF12.

If You put a PN Selector on FF12 it will say it cant solve an issue but if burnt NTSC as normal it will work fine like someone else stated burning at a slower speed might help although i burnt at 8X found that this works fine i hope ive been of some help
