Another thing,... 1xSpeed is a bit slow, even if it behaves a bit differently for DLs (yet).
Try at least 2,4x-Speed.
What kind of dvd-writer did you used for those backups?
Is it a 30001, or a 30001 R (is there even an 30k R-Version in the US?)?
Console version = Old. Real old. "SCPH-30001," if that's useful.
Yepp, it is useful.
It indicates, that your laser is to weak to read the DL properly.
Do it still read the original disc?
Also if it reads the original, try a burned DVD-Video-Disc, or a DVD-Video (movie) which is on DL too (regardless, if itīs a backup, or not).
If the film/movie plays from the beginning to the end with no flaws, your laser should be o.k.
Sometimes, it only needs a minimum Laser-Tweak of 50-100 Ohm and those discs work without troubles.
That should work.
Mod = 8MB card with FMCB/ESR (from this site's "Free FMCB Service")
I believe, youīre not completely screwed.
I patched the disc with both ESR Disc Pather 0.24a and Toxic Dual Layer Image Patcher 1.0. I tried both ESR, then Toxic (first) and Toxic, then ESR. Neither worked. I don't even get the colored screen. Just goes straight to the standard PS2 startup screen. I launched ESR manually from the menu, and it wouldn't load the DVD either. I opened the ISO with WinISO to make sure there were files in there. Everything looked OK, but I wasn't sure what to look for in particular.
Am I screwed? Did I do something completely stupid? If nothing else, at least you can say I gave a detailed description. Any assistance is appreciated.
I also believe, this is not the first ESR-Game which youīve tested with ESR (and if it is, you choosed one of the worst test-samples, which you can get for your old PS2-Model.).
Single-Layer-Games work normally?
You still have a few options.
If Single-Layer-Backups work, try to rip your GoW.
If youīre technically advanced, try the laser-tweak.
Another choice would be to start it from HD.
Internal HD needs a Network-Adaptor/er.
If you want to play it from USB (IF IT WORK FROM THERE!), then Iīm pretty sure it must be ripped, or flattened too.
