Sorry im a newb! but what is dvd9 and whats it used for??

dvd9 is dual layer, as opposed to dvd5 which is single layer. instead of using 2 discs, or making you flip the disc over, they can just put 2 layers of data on the same side. lots of movies use it, a few games use it.
