My PS2 can play DVD-RW discs ok... but what about CD-RWs? I plan on testing a few things (mainly emulators) with CDRW discs so I don't waste any if I screw up. Will they play or what?

Arrrrrrr, depends on yer chip, and what version PS2 ye got. Most attempts I've seen at this have failed...but hey, it be a RW so its not like yer wastin' yon cds or something! give it a whirl matey!
yeh give it a try, it won't hurt...but I doubt you will have success! the ps2 laser is extremely picky about these types of things.

I'm also trying the same thing, with CD-RWs I mean. The thing is I once got my v5 NTSC PS2 to read an Acer 4x CD-RW (burned audio CD) but then it also worked in our Caravan's CD player. I was amazed, at the time I used Adaptec's Easy CD Creator to burn the CD-RW. But so far all my attempts to recreate the situation has failed, none of my CD-RWs work on my PS2 anymore and the Caravan's CD player, even tried full erasing the CD-RWs. I don't know how it happened.
My PS2 reads Memorex 2.4x DVD+RWs as well.
