i was planning on buying the pioneer a06 internal? but does anyone else recommend anything else? and can someone tell me the difference between the dvd-r and the dvd+r?
I would recommend the 106, as it's the same as the 105 plus +R/+RW feature.
There's not really a difference between +- disks. I would say that - is a little bit more spread than +. The - disks work fine for me, in all my devices, like DVD player, PC, PS2... Never tested them with +. The only thing is that + disks are still more expensive. And + disks have a higher burn speed. (2,4 - 4 - 8), - disks are (1 - 2 - 4). 8x is only for the real new burners like the new Plextor (mean machine).
Since the Pioneer series are good burners, you can get a 106 without any question.
However, you can take a look at this beast from plextor right here.
