Will non name branded dvd-r media work well in a V5 ps2's with a magic 2? I heard the newer models are better at dvd-r handling.

The one thing you would have learned by searching for this answer is that every ps2 is different, every laser acts differently. The general advice is to buy a variety of discs, find which one works best with your system, then buy bulk. Dont take any chances. Better media will give you better results, if you dont want to waste any discs, buy apple or verbatim, some would also recommend TDK. Good luck with your search.

I have good results with ritek g03 with several ps2, try this one or buy some TDK from www.meritline.com (2X) its cheaper and good.
My v5 PS2 only likes good quality media.
Verbatim & TDK are the way to go.
I usually try a brand by burning a DVD movie rather than a game - that way if it dosen't work on the PS2 I can still watch it on my DVD player which has much better DVD-R compatibility than the PS2 !
Apple media works every time on every PS2 why mess with anything else.
Do you know of any mailorder companys in the UK that sell Apple media ?
LOL Yes, the UK Apple.com web site has them in 5-paks. Look under Storage Media in their on-line store.Originally posted by Baraka
