hmm, i have a ps2 v7 with magic 3.5 , but i cant get it to work.
i tried using some cheap branded dvd+r discs, but no go, although they work perfectly wwith my xbox
i also tried a plextor cdrw which works great with my xbox, but no go with the ps2
could it be that my modchip is installed wrong? eventhough all originals boot fine?
thnx for your help guyS!
btw, i have a hp200i
No, it means the laser in your PS2 doesn't like cheapo DVD+Rs and CD-RWs. CD-RWs rarely work anyway due to their low reflectivity...
I have a Sony 510AX and Prassi Primo will not recognize that the DVD RW is even there? Does anyone have any suggestions? What is the best software to back up PS2 games? I have heard many different opinions?

That is usually the best fix for issues with Primo. I know it had some issues with the Pioneer A05 when it first came out, but new PX engines seem to have fixed it--may be the same for your Sony.
It might not hurt to check your ASPI layer as well. There are some freaky problems with the early 4.7x series releases. (check out the "ASPI Link" sticky for some links for checkers and updates/downgrades.

I recently found a killer deal that I must share. I purchased the Panasonic DVD-R/RW DVD-RAM Super Burner II for $174.00. This unit is bare OEM so you'll have to find your own dvd burning software ( I recommend Nero). But let me tell you it is an awesome piece of hardware. Can burn dvd-r at 6x !!! check out this link http://www.esbuy.com/subuiidv.html . The price and service is top notch. You'll thank me later!
I own a PS2 v1 and I'm looking to get a DVD burner and a modchip soon. Now do you think it'd be better to just get a new PS2 with a modchip already installed, or go ahead with this one and get a DVD-R drive? Thanks in advance..
Moding a v1 is a waste of time and money. V1s had shit lasers. I would sell your v1 on ebay or something and buy a new premod.
That's what i was thinking. I wonder if it would look odd if i traded in a PS2 and put the money towards a new PS2?![]()
You won't get as much on a trade in. Sell it on ebay. I sold my v1 with 5 games for $285. Just don't mention what the version is.
