I've modded a lot of V7's but only 2 V4's.
DVD+R's have worked flawlessly in every one of them.
I use Fujifilm (fairly inexpensive) with 100% success. Every one has worked perfectly so far. Don't know about V4R specifically, though.

I had a v4 and DVD+R sucked in it, I am getting a v7 so I can boot them from now on.
I believe the v4R has the same laser unit as a v4, but if it doesn't, it should boot DVD+R as good as the newer units. If it has the laser unit like my standard v4, fat chance of it reading DVD+R, it'll only read DVD-R then. If anyone can answer this maybe they can help.

I am wondering what are the best settings for the POT on a PS2 version 7 are. I Have a magic 3 installed on the system and it playes all burnt backups but wont play original ps2 dvd games. Does having a mod chip installed cause you to have to adjust your systems pot settings? Oh i have seen alot of burnt dvd games on regular cd-r's, i am wondering how this is possible and what the difference between using a dvd+r and a regular cr-r is?
I keep seeing ask charlie for information about optimal POT settings, who is he and how do i contact him?

Thankx for any information!
Mike

Did the PS2 play DVD games before the Magic 3 was installed? Having a mod chip should not require you to change your pot settings. Please refer to the thread on Laser Clicking for an explanation of what's happening. Also in the FAQ section there is a post dedicated to the DVD-R/DVD+R question.

My Magic 2 & Messiah 2 Troubleshooting Guides have relevant suggestions for DVD not playing. Please read that.

Finally. I'd rather you didn't contact me behind the scenes. The forum is the place for technical questions.

On the single disc they only say R47A on the five packs they say R47AAX these ones load about as fast as originals burnt at 2X.
