Hey guys, once again I need the knowlegde of you experienced folks. Isn't a DVD-R suppose to have a capacity of 4.7 gb so that is 4.7 x 1024 = 4812.8 mb? But when I opened nero and wanted to burn a dvd-iso with about 4.5 gb of stuff, it says the disc capacity has exceeded. I checked with medium info the size and it says it only has 4489 mb! I don't know what's goin on. I the media was Ritek G04 btw. I thought it may be the media so I switched over to a Pioneer dvd-r but it said the same thing. Is the capacity of the dvd-r really only suppose to be 4489? The burner I have is Pioneer DVR-A05 w/ firmware 1.3, and the version of Nero I have installed is the latest - 5.5.10.35. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

4.7GB = 4.707 billion bytes. Do the math to convert it to base 2 to the 10th power breaking points, (divide by 1024 each time) and you will eventually get to 4.38 GB on the computer.

Same BS is applied to Hard Drives sometimes. I've seen 40GB drives that were closer to 38. Little marketing trickery going on there.
