I want to backup my game (True Crime: Streets of LA), so what I did is that I extracted the game to an ISO, and after I burnt the ISO with Alcohol 120%. After, I powered up my PS2, inserted Action Replay v2, Pressed on Start Game, then Without Codes. So I get my DVD-R and I hold the open button until the eject pops out, I quickly enter the disc and the cd tray goes back in automatically. After, I press X and wait. Nothing pops up. Its been 5 minutes already and I'm still at the Action Replay screen. This is my first time burning a DVD-R backup so any help is appreciated. Action Replay has booted my CD-R PS2 backups before so I don't know why it won't work now.

well, True Crime SOLA is the first game that i ever backed up (just a few days ago). I used DVD decrypter and wrote at 4x. I have a flip top w/ swap magic disks on my V4 PS2, it boots no problem.

What did you do with DVD Decryptor? Did you make an ISO out of it or did you do something different? I'm thinking of getting the swap magic disks, but since I have a modchip already, I don't need the flip top, right?

BTW, has anyone successfully played a DVD-R backup on an Action Replay v2?

yup, i made an ISO image on my harddrive and then burned it to a verbatim DVD-R. very simple.

I think you'd still need the fliptop to use swap magic disks, you need to be able to access the drive without ejecting.

I think by holding the eject button, it will let me play. BTW, has v3 of Swap Magic for the US been released yet?

Check your TOC sizes. The SwapMagic DVD is 4.35GB. The Game shark is a CD, not a DVD. I think the AR is of the same design (at least it used to be). You need a DVD TOC loaded that is as high/higher then that of your backup for it to play reliably. If you are booting with a CD, it will not load a backup DVD. Bypassing the eject sequence does not reset the media flag from CD to DVD, nor does it reserve address space above the CD size so it won't even load the DVD files. You'll have to force a double swap method or get a Swap Magic set. For the cost/versus the headache, you may be better off investing in a soldered bootable modchip instead.

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.
