dvd movies vs dvd games

I have tried 2 types of high quality DVD-R and 1 type of DVD+R when making backups of movies. Neither type would load in my PS2. I have a v4. I used DVD Decryptor and DVD shrink to make the copies. Do v4's usually play back up movies? Will a mod chip or laser adjustment correct this problem? I will be installing a DMS3 shortly and would like to make backup DVD games if possible.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What do you call high quality dvd-r? If your ps2 won't play dvd movie backups it won't play backup games. You can try cleaning the laser or adjusting it. Adding a mod won't fix not being able to play backup movies.

I used TDK and Maxell media. Both of the discs play on my Philips DVD player I recently bought, so I know the discs were burned correctly. Are you saying that backup movies generally work on a v4 ps2?

v4 is hit and miss. Some have success while others don't. TDK makes good media so if that doesn't work nothing likely will as is. Try cleaning the laser with a cleaning disc or q-tip and alcohol. Then adjust if that doesn't work.
