Ok now that i finily have my dual burner the NEC 3540 which Dual Layer disks should i get -R or +R i know i can use the toxic patch for +R DL disks but i have found no info on -R DL I was under the inpression that the -RDL would be more compatible with PS2's.

Unfortunatelly no, DVD-R DL is less compatible at this moment. So use a QUALITY (MKM based, Verbatim/Philips) DVD+R DL, use the hacked firmware, set the booktype to DVD-ROM and that's it. DVD-R DL still has a long long way to go to achieve much better compatibility, the main problem is that the disk is mostly identified as DVD-R and devices think it is a single layer disk... DVD Forum was too late with this one, to be honest at that price I cannot say it will have a promising future.

    regards, Stephen

Not exactly. Nero has since released their LJR update (Layer Jump Recording) which is specifically designed to help compatibility on D/L DVD-R. That being said I still stick to D/L DVD+R because when it is on sale it is significantly cheaper. Not sure about in the UK though.

Unfortunatelly it deos not matter what the Ahead guys have released, as older devices still cannot identify the disk or identifies the dual layer media as single layer. Though, the disk price is the same, Verbatim DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL cost about 5 euro here. (too high for me, hehe)
