  1. #1 Dvd Decrypter - problem with burning
    odium-russ Guest
Hi i'm using dvd decrypter as i see a lot of the people on the forums think it's the best. It's worked once or twice but the majority of the time it doesn't. Also the copies that do work only seem to work on my ps2 but not on others.
    *I am burning at 2x
*USing Ritek dvds - have tried princo, vertebrin, shintaro discs.
*Using a Teac dv-w58ga model. dvd +- RW. Dual drive 8x
    *Have got latest firmware.
*Dvd movies burn fine using dvd x copy.
*Have tried nero, record now max (causes same problem).
Could the solution be to get a new burner that is better for ps2 burning? If so what is a good one (i'm thinking of getting a dual layer 16x pioneer)?
Or is there anyone else who can get this burner to work?
Also does any other dvd discs work for the burner?
Or are there any other programs good for it?
    Any help would be appreciated.

you should be more specific on your problems...like...the game won't boot or game skipping/freezing or what?....It's possible that your burner don't work well with Ritek but it's not likely because most burner LOVE ritek...

My problem is that the disc won't boot. And when the game does boot it usually freezes on the loading menus.

I have almost the same problem. The game stutter and it takes forever to load.
Got my first 5 ritek discs from where I bought my ps2, they work perfect.
Then I got 25 dvd-r ritek from another store, and noone of the things I've burned have been free of problems.
dvd decrypter, same computer, same media, same ps2...
    What could be wrong?
Did try a memorex dvd-r. but it skips on that one too.

    Burning everything at 1x speed.

One of the discs didn't even boot.

I use the RITEK G04 only, if you put a blank in the drive and run DVDecrypter in ISO mode it should tell you the type of disk it is and manufacture.

There are some Riteks out there that suck M02 or something like that, they chaged the dye and are giving people lots of problems...

Fake Riteks are all around. Also, why do you write a disk that has a 4x write strategy + 4x write descriptor table ??? Phew, get a decent writer and genuine Riteks and write them at 4x, and you'll never have a problem.

Get one of the following programs and scan those burnt disks for PI/PO errors.

    - Plextools for Plextor drives
    - KProbe for LIteOn drives
    - DVDInfopro for Benq drives
    - Nero CD/DVD Speed for some others

I am almost sure the number of errors are so high on those disks, that it causes reading problems. Fake Riteks have RITEK mdeia code on themselves, though they are NOT manufactured by Ritek. It's an usual trick of budget media manufacturers, who can't press companies for support their low quality media (and those ID's) in the optical drives firmware, so those disks could not be written at all. Actually a lot of budget companies just put fake ID's on their disks just to get writting of these supported by the drive. Chagne to another brand, Memorex, Verbatim, Fuji, TY, TDK, CMC all work fine with any PS2.

    regards, Stephen
