Does anyone know a site where I can find out what movies are DVD-9 or DVD-5 by looking up the title or something (for ripping purposes)?
Not that I know of, but if you happen t run across one, let us know. Using DVDXCopy makes it kind of a moot point anyway as it will split a DVD-9 into two DVD-Rs automatically, if necessary.
For DVD-5 movies trhat can easily be duplicated onto a dvd-r is it better to use DVD Encrypter or simply make a .gi from Stomp and record?
DVD Encrypter or DVDXCopy as Prassi/Stomp will honor the CSS encryption scheme and refuse to create the image.
Ok well I borrowed about 5 dvds and i am pretty sure that they are ALL DVD-9's and will need to be ripped. So is it pretty obvious that if you use DVDEncrypter and the image is bigger than 4.7GB then its DVD-9? The dvds I have are Training Day, Fast and Furious, Harry Potter, LOTRings, and Austin Powers Goldmember. so my main question is that after ripping with DVDEncrypter how will I know when to stop ripping stuff out? Like the point when I have ripped out enough stuff so that itll fit onto DVD-5. Is ripping DVD-9 to DVD-5 a hard task?
That's why DVDXCopy is so much nicer to use. It automatically scans the disc and suggests a break point between discs (which you can manually override.) It also allows you to remove various items to reduce the overall size, and yes, anything bigger than 4.7GB (DVD-5) is a DVD-9.
The progam seems to be so good at it that it has caught the attention of "the powers that be" and I understand that they're in the process of being sued (remember the deCSS thing...?) ;)
Where can I get this program besides there site for $99.99? and does it give you the option to rip out extras instead of splitting the video?
