    http://www.firewire-1394.com/dvd-r9.4g1xds-5.htm

i was lookin around for good dvd prices (eventhough this site is bad for prices) i found a double sided dvd-r (dvd10) and i was wondering if anyone had tried to use these and burn games on both sides. Doesnt seem like there should be any problems, although it'd be hard to find out what game it is unless you boot it

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, but I don't understand that. I burn all of my games at 1x to ensure a good write. Granted, it is on 2x media though. I thought the only difference between the two was that one of them you could burn faster. You're saying there's a quality difference as well?

    ?????

    why is 1x bad??

2x should be worse, just like with cd-r, where 44x is much worse than 1x

DVD is a horse of a different color when it comes to burn speeds. The data throughput rate is MUCH faster than what you're use to with CD-R media.

DVD-R at 1x = approx 9x CD-R speed and 2x = approx 18x CD-R. If the firmware supports the media, then 2x isn't an issue (as I burn all my stuff at 2x and have had problems in the past at 1x on certified 2x media in various PS2s.)

Think about it... if the speeds and data rates were equivilent, then how long would it actually take you to burn a 4GB image compared to what it takes you now, hmmm...?

Just imagine how cool it would be to have 1 disk with PGEN and roms on 1 side of the DVD-r flip it over for Snes-Station with roms that shit is cool ..!!!

BUT i did notice 1 thing click theDooDS link again and LOOK at the case it says Video so if you can only burn video to it i don't know

coz if i remember rightly at one point CDrs were released to record music ONLY i couldn't burn PSX1 stuff on them it could be the same thing here.
I am sure someone will try !!!! (when theres a 2X version)

I don't think he was asking about CDR speeds as compared to DVDR speeds. It's just that with CDRs, the faster you burn, the less chance you have of making a solid write. So in that light, it doesn't make sense to me why burning a DVDR faster would actually give you less problems?

Trust me i have GTA:vice city three times

1 on cheap DVDr media burn at 1X does not even BOOT
2 on Verbatim DVDr media first was burned at 1X it loads and plays but always always crashes up/ERROR MESSAGE
BUT the SAME IMAGE ON THE SAME MEDIA only difference is BURN speed which the next try was 2X works flawlessly all the time I don't know why but check out the STICKY on this i thought it sounded a bit strange too but BELEIVE me unless you wanna make coasters 2X seems best on the PS2
