I heard somewhere (actually over where the manuals are for the Duo3 chip at mod-chip.com) that with the slim PS2's you shouldn't use dvd+r or rewritable discs cause it will only add more stress to the laser of those units. To only use dvd-r at slow speeds. Is this true?

I think that advice was for the v12 the first version of the slimline. The first slimline version was known for laser burnout after and even before modding. Whether it's true that +R's or RW's add more stress to the laser, I'm not sure about. I've never had to use those formats. Most people stick with -R's because not all PS2 versions (the older ones) can read +R's or RW's.

I´ll have over 300 hours of play in V12 with only the SumOne-fix and has always use Verbatim DVD+R.Not a problem. The chip is RIPPER 3.1
If your console don´t read DVD/RW it´s probaly because the F wire isn´t there.
But DVD/RW stresses the laser like hell.
