Do I need a mod chip

Heres what I am running:
- SCPH 39001 V7 PS2 System
- Sony DVD RW DRU-510A Burner
- Mitsumi 4X 4.7GB DVD+R

I have only backed up dvd movies that I converted to mpeg with TMG that worked perfect on my console. I used SONIC MY DVD Burning software that came with my burner to rip the file and create menus. Now do I need a mod chip to play games? I have not tried burning games yet because I have to wait till the end of the month to buy more blank DVD+Rs. As well I will probably be using SONIC RECORD NOW 6.0 to create a image and rip it or try duplicate.

Yes, you always need a modchip (or ugh, swap device) to play burnt/backed up games.

Yea get yourself a modchip, Swap device isn't so great because some games you can't play it and in order to play it you would have to path some games and stuff. If you get a modchip you won't have to worry about do i need to path this game in order for it to work. If you burn your vdieogames right and you get the right modchip then you don't have anything to worry about.

okay thanks for the help man, I think I will be getting a DMS3 since it is the only one that is upgradable. Or if I must a smartchip seems reiable.
