I was wandering what disc speed is the best to burn a PS2 game? This has probably been said before. I am new. Also, does that speed controle the game speed such as loading times?

I burnt most my games @24x even on cheap cdr's, but I read that the best speed is 4x/8x. I have no problems with my 24x games and it doesn't seem to affect the loading times (too much)

For DVD-R I've had the best results even on quality media my v4-1A and v1-0D burned at 2x as opposed to 1x. Much smoother booting and loading between the scenes...

Recording CDRs or CDRWs at 4x is the most compatible speed possible, but you can try out other speeds.

As for DVDRs, well, I record mine at 2x and have yet to have a problem with it.

If you have trouble reading your CDRs on the console, just try recording at 4x. If you still have issues, try other CDR brand.

    Regards!
