I just burned a copy of Devil May Cry at 2x speed on a TDK DVD-R with my 104 burner. The game gets up to the Capcom logo and then the screen just goes black with a slight flicker every now and then. The DVD drive makes an odd noise when this happens as well. I've used these TDK discs to burn other ISO's and they have all worked flawlessly. I have a v5 PS2 with one of Foundmy.com's old "Device" (It came out after Magic 2 but before XO) mods. Any idea what the problem could be?

It is because of the modchip.
I am using a no-solder with swap discs, and am unable to play the backup of DMC because the swap TOC is smaller than the game TOC.
I get practically the same thing. Capcom screen comes up, then it goes to the next screen which warns of the violence, then just stops there.

But i'm not using a no-solder chip or swap discs, so why should the TOC size be a problem?

Could just be a defective disc as sometimes you just get a clunker in the batch...

It can still be defective even if it reaches the Capcom logo?

Have no problems with my v5 no swap mod when I double-swap using a v2.11 GS2 and the DMC Demo for loading the TOC (it's a full 4.37GB). Tried it first on a TDK DVD-RW as a test run, then a final burn at 1X on "Grade A" 2.0 Certified Princo Silvertop/Purple Bottoms.

Pioneer A04 and Prassi Primo(2.0.749) with 342 scan engine. ASPI Layer 4.60 (build 1021),
Read source disc from a Hi-Val DVDROM (MT1316BDV212B) in Win98SE. Read and Burned at Minimum speeds.

It loads ok off my new 2.0 swap disc--but I don't trust the 4.35 TOC, so I'm still using the double swap with my GS2 for this one.

    Good Luck!

he has foundmy's device, it is a no-swap chip, there are no need for TOC issues.
