It is confirmed MGS2 Substance in Japan is already DVD9, so it probably will be in the US also.
But thats only because the original MGS2 is included on the disc. I'm sure there will be a way to rip just the "substance" features onto a 4.7gb disc.Originally posted by trumpetguyscw

Xenosaga is going to be a DVD-9??
jap version is, usa version is very likely to be dvd9 as well
Damn, I thought lots of older PS2's have trouble with DVD9 disks. So Xenosaga is likely going to be on DVD9? Hmm how are we gonna "backup" that
you can probably make a working copy of a dvd9 game with dvdxcopy (it splits dvd9's onto 2 dvd-r's); works for dvd9 movies...
well if the xbox version of substance is of any indication, you will not see any release of MGS2 substance for PS2.
the game has 9 big DAT files and the .xbe
It was on a DVD9 for XBOX, as the only release could be run from the harddrive, because it couldent all fit on a dvdr, and no other release has surfaced.

movies are COMPLETELY different that ps2 games.....
the XBox thing is a whole bunch of bull too. They are ONLY releasing MGS2 Substance on PS2 in Japan because XBox is so hated there. And although they don't have an official release for MGS2 Substance in the US, they have already said they are going to.
Burning DVD9 games will be a whole different alley for many, Sony could split the files for each part of the game on different layers so you could not burn it onto 2 DVD's without it missing some of the info. Just a thought though.
