How can I create an ISO from just the game files. That is to say, I take the disk and copy the files of the disk onto the hard drive and now have them in a file.

My ps2 is modded with a matrix infinity, and I know I can always use dvddecryptor to directly create an iso, but my question is this.... if I'm not able to use dvddecryptor or want to go about a different route, how can I use the extracted files to create an ISO?

More a question of curiousity than anything else. It's got to be possible, I would just like to know how. Thanks in advance.

i think its possible to open iso files and modefy them in winrar.
so make a iso file using any disc , open in winrar, delete exising files and place your files in it.

i have not tried this myself, but i think it will work

    I understand what you're saying...

But let's say that I WANT to go the long route and rebuild the game using just the ps2 files that are on my hard drive. How do I rebuild the game?

Of course, the easier way is to just create the iso from the beginning, but I'm a glutton for punishment, so I want to rebuild the sucker.

You'll need Sony's CD DVD Generator to create working ISO files for PS2. Otherwise, won't work because there it specific information that is written to the disc which is not kept when you simply copy/paste the files.

    or you could use Nero

simply drag & drop the files into compilation and burn the data to HDD (Itßs called Image Recorder)

you can now choose to either burn it as .NRG (Nero) or standard .Iso file
