Convert Ico to DVD? –
10-24-2008,09:12 PM
My Slim PS2 has a lot of issues running CD games, so I was hoping to convert it to a DVD and use it with ESR. I tried the standard method (Unpack with CDMage, scan all the files, add a dummy, repack with imgBurn), and it sticks on a plain magenta screen for me (that's the first and last color that pops up). Any suggestions as to more things to try?

The best thing to do is to get the PAL version of the game. It has a 50/60 selector and has a buch of really cool unlockables & hidden stuff like the lightsaber, ability to control Yorda with different music, Yordas subtitles in English rather than in hieroglyphics, 2-player mode, etc....
Oh yeah, the PAL version is already DVD based.

So the PAL version will work fine on an NTSC TV without any patching or anything?

This brings up one other game I was having issues with. Star Wars Racer Revenge. If anyone can help me out, please send me a PM.

If your TV supported PAL, yes.

Try gui version with checked "Media Spoof type".

It's got a selector when the game first starts up that lets you choose which video mode.

I do have this "hacked" DVD version with 50/60Hz and language selector. But, as my TV only supports NTSC, i always choose "60Hz".
Question is: even choosing 60Hz , will i still be able to access the "buch of really cool unlockables & hidden stuff" ?
Tks!

Yep everthing will still be there for ya no matter what Hz your running..
Plus you may want to just patch the ISO with some kind of PAL->NTSC converter.. Do a search within google for it if interested..

No need to... as i said before, my ISO already has Hz and Language selection. Since my TV is NTSC, i must always choose 60Hz. I guess this patch is based on the European version (DVD, 865MB), wich (i guess) is always 50Hz (PAL), so i wondered if i would still get the bonuses even if choosing 60Hz.
I also own an original, NTSC/US game, but its CD and only 609MB, so i guess no bonuses... guess ill play the patched european version...
