Consequences of bad media?
Consequences of bad media? –
I have a question. if the media works, it's good to use all the time, right? Or do some work better than others, even though both work all the time? Like does worse media ruin the laser or something?
Also, same thing with the PS1.
princo isnt a cd or dvd brand.. its a garbage brand... ....
using princo is like putting a peice of sand paper on your laser and rubbing it hard... it kill it fast and its not because its working tha the laser like that...
dont use crapy media if you want to have your ps2 more than 2 week
I'm not sure if that really answers my question. Like, I know that Ritek G04 is THE dvd-r to use. But is it because it's reliable, or is it because it doesn't damage the PS2 as much as some others? Or both?
it is best always to go with quality brands
the cd / dvds last longer and there are less errors on the disc so less strain for the laser to read
Does this apply to the Ps1 as well? I'm using some TDK Certified Plus CD-Rs. Haven't had any problems but I don't want to risk ruining the PS1 if its a bad choice for CD-R.
i don't agree with that, my PS2 only reads Princo Budget, it can't read anything else... and i have it for 2 years with no problem
There is some truth to cheap media wearing out lasers. This is a very old debate that dates back to the dawn of Playstation 1001 backups.
The real issue is that Sony designs their hardware to last 91 days. Just about everything that Sony?s made in the last 12 years has been a bloody piece of shit.
I?ve seen plenty of Piece Of Shit Stations with blown lasers and LA/BA driver chips that have never been chipped and never seen recordable media.
Using some cheap brands on a POS1 or POS2 or POSTwo is like feeding rat poison to a terminally sick patient. She?s going to die anyway, your just speeding things up.
Personally, I think that the whole "media quality" debate is a crock of shit wive's tale...
If it works, use it...
I've used Maxell, Memorex, Teon, StarLogic and Ritek all without problems...
A lot of people also tend to write off a dirty laser as a burned out laser cuz..well..people are ignorant, and plus there's all this "so and so media killed my laser" stupidity...
I highly doubt that there's any scientific proof that Ritek G04 is any better than 99% of other DVD-R's for the PS2...
The scientific proof is a media testing system. By the way, talking about scientific as you call it, optical storage is one of them. So, belive me, there are BAD media and there are GOOD. Ritek is an AVARAGE media with decent price. That's why people like it most. I prefer Verbatim/MCC; RicohJPN; TY; all are better than Ritek. But they cost more.Princo has always been one of the cheapest, and their quality varies from batch to batch. Also quality control of low cost disks is quite questionable, that's why you can find fingerprints on budget media, and take a Fuji, and look how a disk should look like.
I'm not saying that there's not differences in quality...
I still haven't seen any scientific proof that a brand like Fuji is better than Ritek though...just because some guy says so doesn't make it the truth...
Everybody cranks out some bad discs now and then...
