do magic 3s suck it for DVD backups? im getting a boot like 1 time in 50 on Verbatim DVD+Rs, though when they do boot they run like a champ. though i do have a v2, that might be the problem. would a better modchip help or do i just need another playstation altogether? maybe some helpful satanic rituals you fellows could point me in the direction of?

The Magic 3.0 does have booting problems, but the main problem is you are trying to play +r on a v2. v1-v3 are terrible at playing +r, that is if you can get them to work at all. Try some -r media instead.

  3. #3 DVD Movies problem

This is not exactly the same problem but it's kinda related: My PS2 is a modded version 1, and it stopped playing movies altogether since the mod. The catch here is that I don't know what the mod is since a friend modded it a place and they didn't mention what the chip is. Another friend of mine had a pre-modded PS2 from the same place and he also can't play movies.

So my question is, anyone knows of any chip that caused similar problems? Or anyne knows a solution for that problem?

    Thanks,

well on messiah 2 and magic 3 u need to boot in psx mode to play dvds. Version 1-4 are horrible at playing dvd+ they should only be played on v5+. I'd recommend u use dvd-r on that v2

When booting, hold reset for about 3-5 seconds.

Thanks for the replies guys . I am almost sure that I tried that booting method with my friend's PS2 (Who had a similar mod but a newer model) to play movies with no luck. I will try it with mine tonight and see what comes up. Here is the catch though: My PS2 doesn't play any PSX backups AT ALL, and it barely boots Original PSX disks !! I would say it boots once in 20 tries or so.......

The trick worked flawleslly . Thank you guys, now I will see if it will boot up PSX games as well (My PS2 is at a friend's place so I can't test, but I hope the same method will do it).
