If I were to guess I'd assume its the Iso itself. It could have been damaged or just not burned properly. If this is the only game you have ever experienced this problem with then that is probably the answer.

I recently Dl'ed a USA Chaos Legion Iso and played it off my ps2 HD (I know way different...) and the game played fine all the way through. As an alternative you could always grab a USA iso and just convert it to pal.

So in a situation like this I suggest you try getting a new ISO/Higher Quality DVD's/Different Burning Software and see if that helps. Good LUCK!

I have a Optairc DVD RW AD-7191S ATA burner.
    I use imgburn v2.5.5.0 to write dvd's, i use Platinum DVD-R's (ritek)
On 2x or 4x write speed.

    Try another DVD-Brand.
I suggest you to use Verbatim '16xCertified AZO'.

    If that doesn't work:

-try another write-speed, for example half of the speed the discs support, or AWS-Speed.
    -try another DVD-Writer!

Your problem is clearly due to the crap quality of ritek discs. (Well known as unsuitable for PS2.)
Higher quality discs such as those TnA recommended should solve the problem.

I use those particular discs myself since a long time back, and they work well for all purposes.
I have used several hundreds of them, many for PS2 use, but even more for video backup storage.

The ImgBurn software is fine, and what we normally recommend for burning PS2 game backup discs.
And the Optiarc burner is probably fine too, assuming it is in good condition.
I currently use an "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7200A 1.09" as my own main burner.

So most likely all your problems will go away, if you just switch to a high-quality media type.
And when you do switch to such discs, remember the advice about using half the certified burn speed.
(The lowest speeds you've been using are not the best choices when using better discs.)

    Best regards: dlanor
