Hey.. I am having problems with this movie I downloaded. The filesize is ~713Mb. Now, the capacity of an 80Min CDR is 700Mb. It only makes sense that when you encode a movie (DivX in this case), you want to play around with the compression and the running time, so it fits in a single CD! or maybe split the movie in two. It just doesn't make sense for a person to leave the file to that particular size, unless it is possible to cram that file in a CD.

What do you guys suggest I do? I have heard about overburning, but I don't know if you can oberburn those 13 additional Mb...

Thanks a lot for your help

Presumably the file you have is either a Bin or ISO file. Don't worry about the fact that it says its 713Mb, it will fit on a 80Min CD-r/CD-Rw no problem at all, you'll find the time is probably around 70-74 Mins on a 713Mb file, possibly even a little less.

Most PS2 DVDRips are around 800-820Mb, and they fit on a CD.

No.. I know that an image file's size exceeds the capacity of a CD.. My file is a .avi. It's a DivX movie I need to burn to see with PS2Reality.

Get a 90 minute 800Mb CD-R and then use overburn.
I have burned already 2 movies this way and they both work perfectly.(I have scph30004R with messiah 1).
If you like then you can still use 80 minute cd-r for overburning too but there's 50/50 chance that it won't work.

Nah.. the 80 min doesn't do it. Where can I get 90min cdrs?? I've never seen them around.. They seem perfect for movies cause they never fit...

try burning it in mode 2, theres almost 800 mb on a cd-r available, in mode 2, they give up a lot for error correction, and mode 2 reclaims a bunch of that.

ALL Playstation and Playstation2 CD's are mode2, 2053 bytes per sector, and have to be patched to 2048 to read cortrectly in windows, it makes them difficult to copy, or it did in the old days. Since PS2 discs are stamped by the factory, not burned blanks, they dont have any real need for the extra sectors specified by the error corrections standards specified by the iso9660 universal disc format standard.
Of course it will work on ps2.
but thats a beta mode 2 maker, and NERO has a mode2 cd mode, as well. If you have an old computer, you might need to back track that app to get the "codec" installer, but I never needed it.

I think that mode 2 stuff applies for bin/img images and not for avi files.
Yes that is correct that you have to use mode2/XA and iso9660 & joliet for burning this iso.
But I'll repeat that again. avi's won't get any smaller than they already are on a HDD they get only bigger (only up to 1 mb) when burned onto cd.
Try to overburn with another brand cd-r. Maybe then it'll work.
Come to think of it then that's only one extra minute to overburn.

Oh well.. I'll give it a try. Unfortunately, I won't be able to until next week. But thanks a lot for your help!..

Just to make sure: I take the file, run the program and it burps a cue/bin. If I burn it with CDRWIN, it "should" work? (just for the record, I'll play it in PS2Reality)
