Cd media checks (and why this breathes new hope for the ps2 game selector)
Hey guys, as you may or may not know, my ps2 isn't reading cd media, but plays dvd media adequately.
I've been investigating what it takes to load cd games onto a dvd-r, but this can also benefit the ps2 scene in a lot of other ways.
Now I'm for certain normal cd games (not dvdrips, although they don't load either) contain CD checks just like DVD's contain DVD checks. When I put a CD game currently onto DVD-R, it gets past the electrons screen (as in, finds a valid disk and/or executable) but boots right back to the memory card screen. Doesn't even get to the ps2 logo.
This breathes new hope for everyone who wanted to use that old ps2 game selector to make multiple game DVD-R's. I don't believe anyone successfully got this to work on a dvd-r. Maybe Sony saw that if CD checks weren't put in place, it would be easily possible for people to make multi game DVD's???
Anyways, to all people out there who want to help out, how close would a CD check look like a DVD check? (To all those people who do DVDrips) Would people out there who are familiar with what dvd checks look like take a look at a CD game and see if/ how many cd checks there are?? This could spell really good things for people wanting to try out the ps2 game selector again, or , people who are trying to make new types of these loaders.
