I'm using Ritek G03 dvd-r's. I made a couple of backups, and just for the hell of it, I put cd stomper type labels on the dvds. Now those 2 dvds have random lockups. Is it wrong to put cd stomper type labels on dvd-r's? I haven't had any problems with any other games that I've backed up. I have a v4 ps2 with a dms3 2.0 modchip installed.

    Thanks!

Sometimes the labels can set the disc out of balance or make it too thick for some self loading drives (like Car CD-players--no tray, just push in a slot and it feeds it in) to load properly. Air bubbles, off-center mounting--all kinds of problems can crop up. It's best to avoid them with weaker drives--but if you simply must stick one on there, make sure you use a spring-loaded applier of some sort and make SURE the label is flat before you press that disc down into the label, then smooth and press it out again for good measure. I use the Sonix kit from Imation. It's small, cheap, and worked well for me so far.

Ok... Thanks... I think I'll just avoid using them for the PS2 for a while. I'm still new to this, and am not sure if it's the label, the media, the burn itself, etc... So not sticking a label on there will narrow it down some..

    Thanks for the reply!

Agreed. Labels are not a good idea in the dvd world as they can cause the disc to be uneven. It even says not to apply labels on Pioneer dvd media.

The labels that I am (was) using are cd stomper labels.
