  1. #1 CD image onto DVD-R

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right forum to ask?

A mate of mine has problems booting CD-R on his PS2, so he wants to burn the CD image onto DVD-R.

I have been following the instructions below:

    1. Extract all files to your pc. Ususally into a folder like C:\Game

    2. Use ISO Buster to get a file list.

    3. Open CD/DVD Generator and drag all game files into there (only game
files, no file list or any other files).

    4. Create a .ccz of the game.

    5. Open CDDVDHelper. Put in .ccz and file list in there and do
an automatic sort. Be sure to put the end result in your C:\Game folder.

    6. Open your .ccz and export your .iml .ims

    7. Use iml2iso to make your iso.

I have the iso image and burn it with PrimoDVD, it boots past the PS2 logo then nothing but a black screen.

Does anybody know of an easier way to do what I am trying to do? or point out anything that I am doing wrong or not doing at all?

I know its not media or mod related as I'm using Traxdata DVD-R and v5 PAL Messiah to test on.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Even though this post was originally made months ago, I am DYING to know if you actually got this working.

no, I never did manage to get it working.

I'm obviously doing something wrong. Ripping DVD to CD-R involves removing the DVD checks, so I imagine I need to apply some sort of DVD check to my image file in order to get it to boot.

I dont really understand the whole DVD checks thing, so if anybody could shed any light/point me in right direction it would be appreciated.

Is there something that needs to be done in the "volume" tab of cd dvd gen? I know you have to put the executable file in the "disc name" tab if you are doing a master disc, but, I don't know if that applies to what we're trying to do also.

As in, if the executable is SLUS_45.123 , you put SLUS in the first box and 45123 in the second.

There's also a tab in "preferences" that is called "disc id" enable/disable . What exactly does this do? Do I need to worry about it ? Right now it's set to "enable" .

Can anyone (even if you have cd-r's working) in the dev community, hacking community, or just anyone who wants to help out some people, please help try to get a cd game booting on a dvd-r(w) ???

I've been playing around with it on dvd-rw, so if it doesn't work correctly, I can just erase and start over.

I haven't even gotten a ps2 logo. I am trying to make a backup of rez (because it's a small game), and no luck so far.

1 Thing i will advise is that DVD-RW are really hit and miss on the PS2 anyway.. Ive never got 1 working yet on either my PAL v4 or PAL v5!

I don't know, I don't think the reason why this isn't working is because I'm using dvd-rw . I know the reflectivity isn't very good on them, and I don't plan on keeping a game on there, but, I would suspect that if a game is put on dvd-rw it'll play (as in, you'll get a ps2 logo, etc) , but it'll just skip really badly.
