There's quite a lot more information that you may find useful in this tutorial: http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/free...r-esr-use.html

I'm having a lot of trouble myself with getting PS One CD games converted to DVD.

If you're doing what I think you're doing, then you'll have to make sure the ISO you are making and want to burn has a UDF signature as well as 9660 information - especially if you need to patch the disc to run on ESR or some other softmod. It should be noted, if the original disc is Mode2, then each and every file from that disc tends to have to be in the exact physical place on the disc. Any files you add must be added to the end of the original data. Also, I've had problems with Nero sort all folders to the beginning of the disc no matter what setting I use (buggy POS if you ask me). Basically, don't use Nero and stay away from ISOBuster (that's my opinion anyway). At least some (maybe all?) CD games tend to use an 8.3 (11) Level 1 file structure, and I doubt you need Joliet. Getting a program that lets you fill out all of the "Labels" is also a plus. Make sure those labels are the exact same as the original disc, because apparently some games won't work unless they are.

NOTE: I am repeating a lot of pointers from other people, and am not much of an expert. I have been trying to get Grandia converted to a DVD for a day now with no luck, although it may just be Memento Firmware sucking as it usually does.

I just want ESR to work with PS games, then at least I can trust someone will care and make it work properly.

This is definitely true for now, and likely to remain so for quite some time.

The only thing that can change this is a PS1 emulator running in PS2 mode, and the only project of that kind I'm aware of is PS2PSXe by ffgriever, which is not yet ready for a public release. That emulator should be able to read PS1 ISOs from any PS2 media including ESR dvdv discs, though the only media I've used in my own betatesting are hdd0: and host: (In the latter case running the game ISOs from a networked PC on my PS2).

    Best regards: dlanor
