    Hello,

I'am new here and i have problems with my backups.
I have burned FF XII on a Verbatim DVD-R with 2X Speed and the application Alcohol 120% (newest). When I insert the backup disc in my ps2 it comes no reaction from the ps2. Later I have burned this image on a Sony DVD-R with the same app @ 2X speed and the game starts, because on the TV comes pink and cyan colours before it starts. I have seen the colour problem also by other backups. What is the reason for this?

    sorry for my bad engish

    best regards

What writer has been used for backing up the discs?

Try IMG-Burn and burn with "AWS"-Speed-setting there.
...or try to burn with a higher speed first...

I always burn my backups on Verbatim DVD+R and booktype it to DVD-ROM.I burn them at 4x and and I use ImgBurn.

Every game is booting without any problems and on almost every game the laser is reading the disk as easy as the original game.

BTW I have really hard time booting games burned on DVD-R disks(it doesn't mater the brand)but ones my PS2 boot the DVD-R disk I don't have any reading problems

My writer is an "PHILIPS DVD-RAM SDVD8821" (Acer Notebook).
I have been updated with the newest firmware.
Thanks for your posting. Im testing it in the next time , but is the write speed the reason for that colour problem?

Thanks, i have read in the most forums that Verbatim DVD-R are the best choice. Works the ps2 slim laser other than the older ps2 laser?

The best choose is DVD-ROM and only DVD+R can become DVD-ROM

Nope,... The colours are not a "problem", but debug-screens.

    Verbatim are indeed very good.

More stuff about ps2-lasers probably could tell you someone who knows more about them.
