PS2 gets owned by...CDloader 1.2 and Kill Bill???
Hey guys, and merry (insert holiday here)! In honor of the approaching new year, I decided I would post this interesting little trick that seems to work 99.99999% of the time ^_^ (...and if I can find me blasted video capture unit, I'll post some video, too!).
Tkeely's tutorial for the NEW YEAR!! ^_^
Booting 700+ MB DVDRiPs on an unmodded PS2:
The story behind the facts:
Not too long ago, a certain affiliate of mine let me know of a certain trick. This trick is this: if you boot up SM CD 2.0, cogswap in CDLoader 1.2 (note: it doesn't have to be CDLoader 1.2, but since it has the ToC reading feature it'll help you ensure the trick works successfully), and insert a PSone authentic, then swap out at a certain time with a DVDRiP, you'll be able to boot it. I did try it, and much to my suprise, it worked very smoothly...only one issue: it doesn't work 100% of the time...I'd say every 1 out of 3 times it works. While cool, it was too unreliable. So I began searching for a way to tighten it's reliability. And I did.
Difficulty:
-Recommended for advanced users ONLY.
The tutorial:
What you'll need:
-An authentic PSone game (doesn't matter which game)
-A Disc capable of being swapped with CD backups (Gameshark 2 V2, SM CD 2.0, etc etc etc)
-A means of swapping discs out
-CDLoader 1.2
-a 700 MB+ CD-R (MUST be burned with Nero with the following settings: Mode 2/XA, DAO --Disc At Once)...I just used my 700MB DVDRiP of Kill Bill, hence the thread title
-The CD-Check sound file (downloadable at the bottom of the page)
-A 700 MB+ DVDRiP
The process:
step one:
insert swap-capable disc
step two:
cogswap/knife-swap in CDLoader 1.2 and boot
step three:
before moving on, LISTEN to the included audio file at the bottom of this page. When on step five, listen for that same noise your PS2 will make.
step four:
take a bunch of files that add up to 700MB and burn onto a CD-R using Nero with the following settings: Mode2/XA, Disc At Once (DAO) mode...label it something like dummy disc...
step five:
normal-eject out CDLoader 1.2 and normal-insert random PSone game.
step six:
see step three...immediately after identifying that noise QUiCKLY cogswap out and replace with the Dummy disc you just burned.
step seven:
if you did it correctly, the disc will continue to boot, and the following will appear at the bottom of the screen:
PSX CD============700MB========================
From here, cog/knife-swap in your 700MB game, and hit X...and it'll boot and play....THE WHOLE WAY through!!
Now, you might be asking yourself, with the 700MB toc disc for PS2, why in the world would i want to do this? 2 reasons:
#1:
more than just 700 mb is achievable. In todays day and age, with games continuing to get bigger, the overall size of the RiPs are continuing to increase beyond 700MB. With an extra-extended capacity dummy-disc overburned beyond 700MB and this tutorial, it'll be possible for no-mod users to keep up with the latest RiPs.
#2:
for those of you who don't want to shell out the ca$h for a toc disc, here's a great alternative. :-)
*****Correction: after identifying the noise, wait approximately 1 second before swapping out with the dummy disc!!!
Please post any comments and share your experiences!!
Hey I tried it and it worked, but instead of me making a 700MB Junk Disk. I added a 700 Dummy file to CDloader 1.2. It boot up the same and says PSXCD____700MB on the bottom.
Originally posted by twisters301 Hey I tried it and it worked, but instead of me making a 700MB Junk Disk. I added a 700 Dummy file to CDloader 1.2. It boot up the same and says PSXCD____700MB on the bottom.
I notice that when I swap the SM 2.0 with the CDloader 1.2. The TOC says 22MB. hmhhm! I thought it was suppose to have the SM CD TOC which is 633MB. So I added a DUMMY file to CDloader 1.2 and it boot up and says,PSXCD_____700MB. I did it with CDloader v7 B51 and it work too. I could now use PS2 Reality and play 700MB videos with it. DAMN!!
I decided to go against what I said and try this anyway, but ran into a problem...I couldn't get the TOC disc (dummied up CDloader v7 b5.1...wonder where I got that idea) to show up after the PSX swap. (Says invalid disc)
I'm guessing it's a timing issue. I listen for the sound, and then when I'm not sure, I just keep trying at different times.
now just one thing...i know this sounds lame...but where can i get this Dummy thing...what program can help make a dummy file for me...and how do I add that dummy file to my cdLoader...
My friend was just asking me the other day about his 700mb rip.Initial D..I wanna try to see if it works......since he & me only have no-solder chip....
it all sounds good, but i got cdloader 1.0 and it always says
No vaild media
or
Invailded Disc
this happens when i put when i hear that noise i swipe the tray with my magic tool and then put a cd over 700mb and then thats what it always says.... you all have PS2LOADER 1.2 i cant find that anywhere can you plz let me download it off you...
