  1. #1 Best value in a DVD burner
    slamurai Guest
I will be purchasing a DVD burner in the near future. Anyone have comments regarding them? including: pricing, features, pro/cons, best places to buy them, etc. Thanks!

I think the majority of people will tell you that a Sony 500 (I forget the exact model) is one of the better values. It burns both DVD-R/W and DVD+R/W and has a firmware upgrade to burn at 4x.
I personally think the DVD+R format is going to win out, for minor technical reasons, but with that burner at least you're safe (unless both formats are scrapped).

As far as best places to get them, I can't really speak to that. I bought my HP 200i at Staples...I did an internet price match from a website that had a pricing error....so.. I think the best advice is to shop around.

Got my DRU-500a from Best Buy, some nut was returning it for a lesser generic dvd-r burner, i steped up and took it from her Anyways the DRU-500a is a little steep in price range but it is well worth it IMO, i had to save up alot of pennies for mine hehe
