Best Format Of DVD to use
Best Format Of DVD to use –
i want to know so i can get prepared with my copied games... wich one is better Dvd-r or Dvd+r and Dvd+-Rw
Write-once formats (-R/+R) are much better than rewritable formats (+RW/-RW). Reports about whether +R or -R are better for PS2 use are mixed, and probably depend more on the specific media/burner combination than on the relative merits of the +R and -R formats. Your best bet is to buy discs made by a respected manufacturer such as Taiyo Yuden, Hitachi-Maxell, or Mitsubishi Chemical Company. It is generally best to buy online from a seller that advertises by manufacturer instead of just by brand. For regular retail shopping (where the true manufacturer is often not advertised), the usual rule of thumb is to buy discs made in Japan, as these are likely to be made by Taiyo Yuden or Hitachi-Maxell.
Hope this helps.

Reason: fix really really confusing typo
^^^ What he said...plus I recommend Ritek as well. I have always been happy with Ritek media. However, I think Taiyo Yuden is better...but get what you can afford.
NEVER skimp on media...always buy quality brands. It is not that much more and it will save you so many headaches!
i perfer -r Taiyo Yuden burned at 2x or 4x
ok but me i can only get like the sony dvd's and memorex, fujiflim,Phillips, maxell
wich one of them are better?
Ps: are lightscribes disks any good
Ps: oh yeah i live i canada so they are dvds from a Future Shop is still gonna be good?

You can't really tell from just the brand, unfortunately. That's just the way the CD/DVD-R market is. Like I said your best bet in that case is to buy discs made in Japan, but even that is not foolproof.
I'm using the $ony brand DVD-R with Accucore and it's made in Taiwan not Japan. It's been working fine for me.
I do notice that my PS2 makes loud noises likes it's really working the laser when I give it CD-R's that aren't high quality brand name. But my PS1 doesn't act up on the CD-R's at all.
Also, there's already a sticky thread about this stuff in the same forum you posted this thread in.

Look here for a comparison done by a third party.
