I have a Magic 3.1 in my v7 ps2, and I have found Verbatim DVD+R to be the best by far, and it is only 9 bucks for a 3 pack at Target, compared to 12.99 for the same thing at Best Buy. Hewlett Packard DVD+R is also pretty good, as is TDK.

Also, are you installing this Magic 3.1 on a version 4? If so, DVD+R may not be good for you, v1-4 lasers have been known not to read DVD+R, that's why I sold mine and got a v7 with a Magic 3.1 installed in it. Besides, the lasers last longer and read backups better. You can try Verbatim DVD+R, if those don't boot then no DVD+R will boot on your console, best get a new one. Good Luck!

I found the HP DVD+R far the best.
    I've tried
    Primedisc and Verbatim +R
    Verbatim, Pio, Ritek etc. -R

Actually Im not a fan of HP but this disc read better than an original by some misterious way. Also has an interesting light blue dye color - very reflective.

The test machine was a 2 yr old SCPH-10000 thus the difference is clearly visible on seek time, errors etc.
