Bad backed up .ISOs, anyway to convert?
Bad backed up .ISOs, anyway to convert? –
Hi, I'm fairly new to the ps2-scene (been on xbox-scene since forever though :P) but I managed to install a HDD and free mcboot. Everything works, backups of all our games works all fine, both transferring using the hdl_dumb and winhiip.
But I got a hold of a rare collection of some really dodgy .ISOs where the hdl_dumb would not want to install them (it didn't show any Startup or Name in the app)
The .ISOs are created with poweriso and some .daa setting or something, and all I want is to convert them to "proper" .isos so I can install them on to my HDD, not needing to burn all of them...
Any ideas on the subject?
Try to mount the image with daemon tools and make iso with dvd-decrypter from virtual drive ;D
Of course I've tried that already (but daemon tools won't recognize the is), and I've tried using poweriso to extract the content and then put together a new .ISO, but it didn't work anyways.
Damn this poweriso .daa thing or whatever is causing the problems :P
Thing is, they have .iso file extensions. But I'll try changing them first, then convert. Thanks for the tip!
I did however extract the crazy .ISOs and then compiled a new iso, and now at least hdl_dumb seems to want to upload it. Though I had to put in the Startup manually.
We'll see how it goes in about an hour...
Oh ok, my misundertanding.. I thought you said they were .daa files.
I was going to say, try rebuilding the ISO and see if that works.
The only other option of course is to have the original and back them up with imgburn or DVD decrypter in the first place.
Another thing is maybe they are not true DVD UDF/ISO images, so you can use UltraISO to add the UDF descriptor to the image.
They were probably just renamed or something, I'don't know how poweriso works but the convert program thing did work after changing file extension
Now, patched with the esr disc patcher it works like a charm.
Though is there a way to rip them to the hard drive through ESR or similar? I don't have a chip so I don't know of any software that can back them up on the HDD. (And yes, I've tried with hdl_dumb with no success. And I bet that the esr disc patch won't make hdl_dumb make it work?)
A couple years ago I think we tried to use hddloader to backup esr games to hdd, but you need to have a Swap Magic disc or HDAdvance retail disc.

I haven't really tried anything else since that.
Did you try using Winhiip 1.7.6 now since you have repaired the ISO
Yes thanks. Now everything is fine, running smoothly off the HDD.
Thanks for the help! And now I know I'll never use poweriso again lol
Edit: It's just such a pain in the a** to plug in and out the HDD everytime you want to add a backed up game to the HDD.
Yes it can be. I have a 400GB and a 300GB internal hdd (I got a good deal on them years ago), so some time ago when Open PS2 Loader began I redid my hdd's and copied all my PS2 games to the hdd as I quit using hdloader and only use OPL now.
I also have games on my PC and use SMB Network, plus USB
So now I am not having to copy games over anymore, as they are all on there, unless I come across a game I don't have and want, or that are still on discs but then I just use the PC or USB and play it that way.
