Backups don't boot

Hello, i'm new to this modding and how it really works, I had a question, you see I got a chip for the PSTwo Slim, SCPH - 75001 CB, I tried backing up my games using Nero,Alcohol,dvdDecrypter (tried x1.x2.x4) but nothing works, when I pop in the Disc, Ps2 boots and PLEASE INSERT A PLAYSTATION or PLAYSTATION 2 FORMAT DISC comes up, I do not know what may be wrong am I missing something here? My media types are FujiFilm DVD-R 120 min, 4.6gb, 1x-16x, could the loading error be associated with the disc type? please know that made a dvd of anime movie and when I pop in the disc in the ps2 boots up the movie fine.

First of all, it could be the chip that is badly installed.

The media is very important too. I dunno about fujifilm but, no problem using Verbatim DVD-R.
Burn with DVD Decrypter at the lower speed.

I finaly got a hold of the guy who installed it, i expained to him that i backed up my Original copy of Romancing Saga for PS2 but when i inserted in it would say "please insert..ps or ps2 disc format" according to him, he says that i need to patch it or something, a procedure needed to be done with every game, sry has very heavy accent barely understand him XD, do you know what he means by patch?if so could you please shed some light on this? thanks so much for replying in the first place, by the way, the chip it's not bad, because he put in a game to test it and loaded the game well

***also just purchased Memorex dvd-r and Verbatim DVD+r ( 'dvd-r' none at store ;

and also do not boot up game

Games don't need to be 'patched'. Run DVD Decrypter(or something similar), read the original, put in the DVD-R and burn.

Like others have said, though, you do need to be sure of the media. The Verbatims should be fine. I've personally been using Maxell and Taiyo Yuden, both have worked perfectly.

I just got Verbatim DVD-R...does not work either..I don't know, ps2 did not read back ups of movies, but does now with chip installed, is there a posibility that it's broken and somehow it is able to read dvd movie back ups and not games? I have tried everything..maybe burner can't burn them? I am able to burn back ups of old dreamcast games and play them perfectly on that console, again, have used alcohol 120%, Decrypter, Nero nothing, everytime res screen asking for ps2 format discs
my hopes have gone dry =/

what kind of chip do u have ? it seems like he ripped u of with sum cheap mod, thats prolly why u need to patch every game.

patching is notthing more then editing sum values in the iso file.

From my experince all ps2's play backup movies w/o a chip and i've installed modchips in all versions but the newest one.

I hate so what i'm about to say, but have you look to make sure he did install the chip? because a lot of people scam people when installing modchips. Also don't take peoples word that things work because people lie about things that work when they don't.

Also did you ship it to him and have him ship it back to you? Because if you did its possible that one or more of the wires came lose durning the trip and that is why it would result in whats happening to you.

What modchip did you get?
Who did the install? (friend, local store, website)
Did you have to ship it to the person?

I don't think it's a bad iso, I have made back up of 3 dif games for ps2 and all 3 come up with the same "insert psx or ps2 disc format"..as for the chip i'm not really sure what the name is. about editing sum values in the iso? how is that done? up to now not impressed at all with this modding of the ps2, proving itself useless as of now. I think i will get my brother and go to this guy's house, maybe he did rip me off and try to give me the run around cause i'm a girl. Thx guys
