Backup Question

I have a new slimline PS2 with a matrix chip.
Now I have backed up alot of games, and always like 1-2 out of 10 don't work.
They will boot to the first screen, and then sit there.,
The 2 most recent games were.
Destroy all Humans
MLB 2006

I use dvd decrypter and or nero to burn and back-up.

Anyone know why this happens?

It could be a number of factors... what kind of discs are you using to burn your back-ups? Are they the cheaps one or they quality discs such as TY, Verbatim MCC, Ritek G04, etc? DVD Decrypter should show you the disc codes.

I use Verbatim DVD's.
What are these patches I hear about?
Are you supposed to use them on some games?
If so, how do you know what games need to be patched?

my ps2 only reads dvd-r burned at 1x or 2x. 4x and 8x wont boot. maybe thats your problem too?

Yeah same again, my PS2 will read Ri-Discs burned at 4x but not Datawrite's, and they both have Ritek dye.

Lasers are fussy, you just have to find what works for you and stick with it. If in doubt, then I say choose 2x.

How come with nero or alcohol I can only choose MAX, 4x or 8x?

It may be because of your specific burner or firmware. I have a 8x burner and both Nero and Alcohol gives me options of 1x, 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x.
