Backup Problem

well this is my first time at the scene...i modded my xbox, and now i decided it was time to move onto a ps2. since the person who installed my xbox chip moved away..i approached the ps2 in a different way. i went with a flip top and then bought the swap magic combo...i hve the ver 3.0 cd and ver 2.0 dvd

so i did everything i thought was correct...dvd decrypter...read the iso image to my hard drive...thene wrote that image to a disk at 4x. i used Sony Dvd-r's that work great on my xbox..but it didnt work on the ps2. i loaded up the dvd version, and then switched the disks, then pressed x...and a pink background came up around the swap magic background and it froze...so i dont know wahts wrong

im trying to backup tekken 5 and ive already made one coaster and would like to avoid making more :banghead:

It only just sounds like your laser didn't like that media.

Try it at a slower speed. My Xbox reads a lot of media that my PS2 won't, then again, my Xbox does have a Samsung drive in it. ;)

yea i have a sammy also..theres no patch i need or anything..and what would be good ps2 media that would also work along with my xbox?

Ritek discs burned at 2x work perfectly in my v7, I've got a 100% success rate, but it honestly depends on your burner and PS2.

Tekken 5 shouldn't be a difficult one. I did my backup of that myself from a PAL original an it worked perfectly with Swap Magic, burned on Ri-Disc at 4x, and even the FMV and everything is flawless, so it definitely wont need patching or anything. The only problem with Tekken 5 is that the mini-games boot from a seperate executable, so they wont work with SM, but the main game should boot perfectly.

You aren't going to like this answer but IMHO the biggest problem is the mod method you are using the Swap disc/Fliptop is a horribly outdated method. If you want to go no-solder then do the HD Advance/HD Loader method. BTW where were these Sony DVD-Rs made? (check the package and it should tell you). Check out swapmagicfix.com and see if you need a patch/fix to get it to work.

You wouldn't need a patch to get a brand of media to work.

i recommend seagate all the way. ive had 2 maxtors a western digital and 3 seagates and i like the seagates the best. it does make a bit of noise though but for WD you have to modify the network adapter to fit your hdd for hdloader and maxtors are just not good drives IMO. as for size it all depends really. i personally find an 80 to 120 gb hdd is more than enough space since you can only play one game at a time and with that much space you can hold anywhere from 15-30 games depending on size for an 80 gb. swapping is a sorta old method now so i prefer playing any game i can on hdloader :)

Seagate here as well. As of late they have been given the highest mark for customer reviews and if you keep your eye out for specials they don't cost much more than Maxtor or Western Digital. Also, they are very quiet and come stock with a 5 year warranty. @alanisfan, I realize that you don't need a patch to get media to work (it has nothing to do with media) but the game itself (Tekken 5) may require a patch before it will work with the swapmagic configuration. ;)
